Massage & Fitness Magazine Raises Massage Therapy and Fitness Publication Standards to a New Level!

Posted on: Sun, 03/15/2015 - 5:14am By: Alice

Massage & Fitness Magazine, a science-based magazine focused on massage therapy and fitness, went public with its pilot issue yesterday. Within a few hours, we received our first review from Working Well Resources and it's a great one!

I say "we" because I'm one of the contributors. Managing editor Nick Ng, who has put a tremendous amount of work into this, asked me to write an article on prenatal massage [p. 15] and, in particular, to lay to rest a couple of myths that continue to circulate in the massage therapy community. I also covered some things we can say with confidence about prenatal massage.

Book Review: Explain Pain by David Butler and Lorimer Moseley

If I could make only one recommendation to individuals living with chronic pain, it would be to read the book Explain Pain by David Butler and Lorimer Moseley.

Directed at both clinicians who work with chronic pain patients and patients who live with chronic pain, Explain Pain shows how the discoveries of modern pain science can be put to practical use. Written in understandable language with a touch of lighthearted humor, Butler and Moseley take a complex subject and make it possible for the average person to understand and use. One client remarked that she thought it would be hard to read and was delighted that she did not find it difficult at all.

The Best!

Cirque du Soleil

Given the nature of our show, our acrobats are in great need of physical healing as well as spiritual healing. They perform nine to ten shows per week and need specific attention to different injuries and physical pain they endure on a daily basis. Alice was able to relieve them of this with regular massages. They were very grateful to the service she provided to them.
